FAMILY IS AT THE HEART OF OUR HOME AND PASTA IS WHAT BRINGS US TOGETHER. WE MAY NOT ALWAYS HAVE IT ALL TOGETHER; BUT WHEN WE’RE TOGETHER WE HAVE IT ALL.

Antonio De Pasquale, “Nonno” began his journey from Reggio Calabria, Italy to Melbourne, Australia in the 1950’s. From here, Nonno worked his way through various industries until he finally found his passion for pasta. Nonno’s legacy with his Papa’ started to take shape!

Initially, Nonno spent endless days making pizza dough for Italian restaurants around Melbourne. Not long after, Nonno’s authentic pasta producing began. In the 1970’s, Nonno married Carolina “Nonna” and together they created five strong, independent women who would one day join Nonno’s passion of pasta. Nonno continued his love of pasta for 60 successful years in business in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Until finally it was time to retire at 80 years old…however, nonno got bored at home and wanted nothing more than to share his love of pasta with his daughters.

In 2020, Il Nonno Foods was born! Nonno’s daughters grew up being surrounded by their father’s love of pasta. Spending their school holidays working in the factory, delivering with papa’...and most importantly eating lots of pasta dough!

Their childhood was filled with dirty aprons and dough-crusted hands. Their kitchen table was their classroom; Papa was their teacher- just like his papa’ before him. When they argued over whose turn it was to knead, papa’ found an important job for each of his daughters.

For more than 60 years of pasta making, it used to be the men in the family who led the charge, but now it’s the girls’ turn to run the business.

Today, Il Nonno Foods founded by Nonno’s daughter Krystal, produce premium quality pasta made with love. Nonno’s youngest daughter Krystal runs the company and develops the products for Il Nonno Pasta using the trusted traditional Italian techniques, but with a focus on natural Australian ingredients. Krystal’s background in Biomedicine and passion for cooking since she was a little girl have led the pathway to create products with healthy elements and a traditional taste. Now our children are learning what their nonno taught us- Papa’s way was always pasta and that pasta brings family together. It always brought us together. We hope it does the same for you.

From our famiglia to yours……
